Prayer

Prayer forms a central part of the Catholic life of our school. Children learn our school prayers in Reception class, and the prayers are part of our daily routine in every class.

We pray our morning prayer when we arrive at school:

O my God you love me, you’re with me night and day.

I want to love you always, in all I do and say.

I’ll try to please you Father, bless me through the day.

Amen.

We say our grace before meals before we eat our lunch:

Bless us O God, as we sit together.

Bless the food we eat today.

Bless the hands that make the food.

Bless us O God.

Amen.

We say our grace after meals when we come into school after lunch time:

Thank you God for the food we have eaten.

Thank you God for all our friends.

Thank you God for everything.

Amen.

We say our final prayer of the day before we leave school at home time:

God Our Father, I come to say, thank you for your love today.

Thank you for my family, and all the friends you give to me.

Guard me in the dark of night, and in the morning send your light.

Amen.

In addition to our school prayers, the children will learn formal prayers throughout school, including:

· The sign of the cross

· Hail Mary

· Our Father

· Responses to greet the Gospel

· Prayers at Mass, including:

o I Confess

o Holy Holy

o Lamb of God

· The Act of Contrition

· Eternal Rest

· The vows used in a wedding Mass
